Developmental Components
The Church of Eleven22’s School of Ministry offers several unique opportunities in which apprentice’s serve alongside staff in specific ministry areas.Ministry area assignments are made in partnership the needs of the ministry area and the resident’s experience, educational background, and his or her desired ministry future.
The leadership development program focuses on apprentice development via six integral components:
Ministry Experience
Ministry experience is the primary component in this program. To ensure that each apprentice has the ability and knowledge to effectively and competently lead as a full-time minister, apprentices participate in, lead and are responsible for significant and real-life ministry experience.
Ministry Mentoring
Apprentices meet biweekly with their ministry area Direct Report to discuss their ministry area progress, ensure professional growth and provide the apprentice every opportunity to gain the competencies needed for full-time ministry.
Leadership Training Curriculum
Leadership Training Curriculum trains apprentices in an interactive, engaging classroom environment designed to give valuable insight into four different types of leadership: self, relational, spiritual and organizational. In addition, the School of Ministry provides auxiliary training events in the areas of preaching/teaching, pastoral care/counseling, spiritual formation/discipleship and missions.
Personal Development
Although personal development is similar to ministry mentoring, it is more about who the apprentice is than what the apprentice does. Every month the Apprentice Coach meets one-on-one with the apprentice to support their personal development and individual discipleship.
Synergy and Church Culture
We believe that the synergy experienced in a healthy staff culture is more “caught” than “taught,” and that apprentices benefit greatly from participating in a thriving and healthy staff and church culture. The Church of Eleven22 staff culture includes weekly staff meetings, staff lunches and other various staff events. Within this context, apprentices pick up the unique nuances and attitudes that make the culture of the Church of Eleven22 so distinct; therefore, those apprentices that are able to attend are encouraged to do so.
Bi-Annual Evaluation
Formal evaluations that happen once a season that allow for the apprentice, Apprentice Coach and the apprentice’s Direct Report to evaluate the apprentice’s School of Ministry experience, as well as his or her readiness for ministry. Additionally, these evaluations identify areas for growth that may have been overlooked in the five developmental components.

FAQ's
When does the program start?
The School of Ministry Apprenticeship Program will have two entry points the first entry point begins in mid-August and then second entry point begins in January.
How long is the apprenticeship?
Although there are three entry points spaced throughout the year, one year is the minimum apprentice commitment and, at the end of each commitment, the apprentice and direct report will determine if extending to another year is in each other’s best interest. (Maximum length: 2 years)
What is the workload?
Apprentices work between 10-15 hours a week. These hours consist of practical hands-on ministry experience, ministry mentoring, and personal development. For the most part, the hours worked are flexible enough to be determined between the apprentice and his or her direct report.
How much does it pay?
Although apprentices are not paid financially, the ministry experience gained over the course of the apprenticeship season will pay dividends in his or her ministry development and effectiveness. In addition to this ministry experience, apprentices are invited, and even encouraged, to join us for our weekly all-staff meeting at 11am on Tuesdays, and to be a regular part of the Leadership Training classroom time on Wednesday mornings.
Are there age restrictions for the apprenticeship program?
The School of Ministry Apprenticeship Program is designed for individuals that, at minimum, have begun his or her senior year of high school at the time the apprenticeship starts in August. Anyone of this age, or older, is welcomed to apply.
